Jacques Gabriel bridge and Loire river. Long exposure photography. Blois, France

Jacques Gabriel Bridge Blois

This black and white long-exposure photograph captures the majesty of Jacques Gabriel Bridge and the Loire River in Blois.

It measures 283m in length, comprises 11 arches, and has an obelisk in the middle. And everything is magically reflected in the flowing waters of the Loire.

In those days of May 2013, it was raining a lot, cold all over France, and the rivers were in flood. Not a good climate to travel in, but perfect conditions to shoot an exciting black and white.

The bridge dates back to 1716, when it was built by French architect Jacques Gabriel, yet King Louis XVI's architect. The construction ended 8 years later, in 1724.
