Lavender
The lavender plant is a very common species in the Mediterranean and is cultivated to obtain perfumery and herbal products. Lavender flowers bloom, depending on the area, between the end of June and the beginning of July, and with their purple color, paint the fields and transform them into a wonderful photographic set.
In recent years, thanks also to the spread of Instagram, more and more people in the summer, love to travel to the lavender growing areas to be photographed among the rows and among the characteristic farms that produce it.
The most famous area in the world for the cultivation of lavender is Provence, in Southern France. In particular, the area of the Valensole Plateau, where on the first days of July you can admire endless rows of French lavender in bloom and breathtaking landscapes with purple flowers next to the sunflowers and lonely trees.
In recent years, even in Italy, there are more and more lavender fields to visit. In particular in Tuscany, in the area near Pisa, between the towns of Santa Luce and Orciano, near where I live, I took many suggestive images, thanks to the beautiful combination of the intense purple of lavender and the beauty of the Tuscan landscape, made of cypresses and rolling hills.
